Russia is among the countries that has called on all parties to stop provocative words and actions. The Kremlin has welcomed the talks between Seoul and Pyongyang and insists that only negotiation and dialogue can ease the tensions on the Korean peninsula. Our correspondent Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.
JULIA LYUBOVA MOSCOW Moscow says it welcomes any dialogue between the two countries. Ealier we heard from Kremlin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, he said that we welcome the direct contact between representatives of the two koreas. And he also said that we believe only through such dialogue it is possible to achieve an ease of tensions on the Korean peninsula. Well, certainly Russia views this dialogue as an unnecessary step towards the escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula. Moscow has been calling for a long time of denuclearization of the peninsula and Russia says it doesn't recognize the nuclear status of DPRK and it also says the US along with South Korea should stop holding their joint military drills. So Moscow is likely to call for more talks and more negotiations after this round. And Moscow even said before that it's ready to negotiate and contribute to any talks between DPRK and US if any of the sides ask to.
