Yili Oceania Production Base, located in Waimate, a city on the South Island of New Zealand, has become the biggest integrated dairy factory in the world with the opening of its second phase.
The facility can now produce 56 thousand tons of whole milk powder, and 30,000 tons of baby milk powder annually, as well as handling tasks from research to packaging. The project is a three-billion-dollar investment, according to Yili.
The group’s chairman Pan Gang said, "We have the technology and human resources that make us able to expand our production lines, and New Zealand has a unique advantage when it comes to natural resources – for example, grasslands and cattle, they are very high quality – but the cost of breeding is significantly low, that is why we set up our production base here in New Zealand."
