Members of Panama's Chinese community have been celebrating the formal establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the Central American nation. 

Panama’s Foreign Minister, Isabel de Saint Malo, visited Beijing on Monday and met China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, with both sides signing documents formalizing their relations.

An estimated 300,000 Chinese and their descendants live in Panama, a sizable chunk in a country of just four million people. 

As CGTN’s Roee Ruttenberg found, aspects of the Chinese community have permeated into almost every part of Panamanian society.
