The UN's Committee of Disarmament and International Security on Monday approved six draft resolutions, including one on a legally binding instrument on the prevention of an arms race in outer space, including "No first placement of weapons in outer space".
The resolution encouraged all States, especially space-faring nations, to consider the possibility of upholding, as appropriate, a political commitment not to be the first to place weapons in outer space, in the spirit of establishing a community of shared future for human beings.
"Building a community of common destiny" is a concept which Chinese President Xi Jinping has renewed many times, offering inspiration to a world beset by rising challenges and risks.
