China's National People's Congress (NPC) is currently holding a press conference about its committees’ oversight work on a range of issues. Officials who are taking media questions include:

Liu Xiuwen on supervision on government budget and expenditure
The NPC attaches great importance to the online supervision system on budget, which serves as the major measure for China’s top legislature to keep pace with the times.‍
The supervision system will soon be implemented across the nation’s testing grounds, with south China’s Guangdong Province pioneering the project last year.

Yuan Si on NPC’s legislature and supervision of environment protection

NPC’s Environment Protection Committee has been carrying out its legislature and supervision works based on the public’s urgent need and satisfaction.
Environment protection laws have been drafted and enacted specifically for improving and protecting water, air and soil quality. In terms of its supervision work, the committee paid visits to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei megalopolis every year, the area worst affected by smog, and strengthened punishment for plants and factories that violated related regulations and laws.

The NPC has been enhancing its supervision on government's budget and expenditure, and pushing transparency forward as well as accessibility by the public in recent years.
The budgets of 104 central institutions and organizations’ are going to be made available and visible to the public in accordance with the law this year, accounting for over 60 percent of all central institutions and organizations.‍
To better control government’s debt risk, new rules and regulations have been enacted for local governments on their debt management.

The NPC listens to work reports by these two organizations, inspects them and holds discussions with them.
