Syria's Antiquities and Museums Department has condemned the Turkish attacks targeting archeological sites in the Afrin region. It's one of the richest areas in Syria for artifacts and monuments. The Ain Dara temple was the latest to be destroyed by the Turkish shelling, according to Syrian state news agency SANA. The temple was among the most important ancient monuments built by the Arameans in the first millennium BC. The Ain Dara temple is characterized by its rare basalt stone artifacts discovered in 1982 by a national mission.
