China's navy will hold a joint drill with the Myanmar navy during its visit to the country, China's Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said on Saturday.

Chinese warships arrived in Yangon for a four-day visit on Thursday. The two sides will conduct exercises on communication, ship formations, as well as search and rescue operations, Wu said.

"China is willing to work with Myanmar to actively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic communication and deepen pragmatic cooperation to contribute to regional peace and stability and push the in-depth development between the two armies," Wu said.
