Korea Peninsula Tensions: Trump talks to S. Korea's Moon & Japan's Abe via phone
[]
President Trump has spoken on the phone with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss the situation in the DPRK and the Olympic Games. The White House says Trump and Abe discussed an expanded missile defense system and agreed on the need to intensify international pressure to denuclearize the DPRK.
Trump also spoke to South Korean President Moon Jae-in about human rights in the DPRK. South Korea's presidential Blue House says Moon expressed hope that momentum created by recent inter-Korean talks continues, and that US Vice President Mike Pence's visit to the Winter Games "would be an important prelude for that."
