“Voices of peace and reason” are needed amid tensions on the Korean Peninsula, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.
Wang made this remark at a joint press conference in Athens with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias. “China will not be swayed by words and will continue to play its role,"‍ Wang said.
He reiterated China’s firm stance on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and safeguarding peace and stability in the region. China will stand firm in addressing the issue through peaceful solutions, the foreign minister said.
“China may not have the key to this solution … but we are happy that more sides are accepting our point of view,” Wang added. He said Beijing is making efforts to resume peace talks and put forward its proposal to ease tensions.
