Sultan Muhammad V installed as Malaysia's new king

Sultan Muhammad V was formally installed as Malaysia's 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Monday, as a grand ceremony celebrating the event was staged at the National Palace, marked the formal commencement of his tenure.

During the ceremony, the king delivered a speech calling for unity  in a country with different races and religions. He said it has been proven in Malaysia that diverse races, religions, cultures, and ways of life can live together in peace and harmony.
He described the co-existence of different races and religions as "the source of our uniqueness and strength."
According to Article 153, one of the most controversial articles of the Constitution of Malaysia, Malays enjoy privilege legally in many aspects, including public service, education, and employment. ‍

Malaysia is one of 43 countries in the world that practice a constitutional monarchy style of government, with a rotating system of selecting a King, being the only one of its kind in the world.
The new king's installation came as Malaysia celebrates its 60th anniversary of independence since 1957.
