We've heard a lot about immersive and possibly disruptive technology such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). And it is very often used in gaming, which is where the money is flocking to now. But this week's X-tech conference in San Francisco is seeking to literally take the technology deeper, and straight into the brain.

At the event, the mind is the focus like in a technology called the "human charger," which shines a bright light through one's ears and to your brain.

Many Xtech industry leaders said science fiction has already predicted the convergence of mind and technology. Ramez Naam, the author of the science fiction trilogy, The Nexus, said despite fears of increasingly immersive technology, the potential for building understanding is greater.
