Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday that China is committed to the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit to expand cooperation between China and Australia.
Wang made the remarks when co-hosting the fourth China-Australia Foreign and Strategic Dialogue with his Australian counterpart, Julie Bishop.
Wang is on an official two-day visit in Canberra, starting Tuesday.

“At a time when we face an international situation full of uncertainties, we’ve agreed to send a clear message that this is important to firmly commit to an open world economy. It’s important to steer economic globalization toward greater inclusiveness and broader shared benefits, and in a more sustainable way,” Wang said at a news conference after their meeting in Parliament House in Canberra.
Bishop told Wang that this meeting was an important opportunity for both countries to discuss a variety of topics, including their strong bilateral relationship and regional and global issues. She also announced that Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will meet with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Australia next month.

China and Australia have become more interconnected in recent years. This year marks the 45th anniversary of China's diplomatic ties with Australia and is the China-Australia Year of Tourism as well.
China is now Australia's largest trading partner, export market, and foreign investor. In 2015, Chinese investment in Australia grew to over 11 billion US dollars, up about 33 percent from the earlier year. The two countries signed a bilateral free trade deal, which became effective in December 2015.
After his visit in Australia, Wang is due to travel to New Zealand for another two-day visit.
