The Chinese Defense Ministry said the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) is an occasion worth celebrating, spokesperson for the Ministry Wu Qian said at a regular press conference on Thursday.
August 1 this year marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the PLA. More details about the celebration and other commemorating activities will be released “at the proper time,” Wu said.
Media reports said that Beijing is likely to hold a large-scale military parade to mark the day.
The last large military event of its kind was held in Beijing on September 3, 2015, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the Second World War.
