The United States has extradited the first Chinese fugitive since Donald Trump became president in January. 

China has hailed the repatriation as the "major achievement" of talks between the two countries in April. 

The suspect, surnamed Zhu, fled to the US last year. The Ministry of Public Security said in a statement he was suspected of crimes involving the "violation of personal rights".

He was detained in the US in January for overstaying his visa. 

China is currently seeking the extradition of thousands of fugitives as part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption.
