Latest on SW China landslide: 10 bodies found, 93 missing

A total of 10 bodies have been found and 93 people remain missing as of 2:00 p.m. local time Sunday after Saturday's landslide in Maoxian County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the latest press conference held by authorities. 

Four of the bodies have been identified and 15 people have been removed from the missing list after they were confirmed as safe.

Over 300 people have been transferred from the disaster zone, and supplies including food, water, and quilt, have been dispatched to them.

Authorities said nine more bodies were found and 109 people remain missing as of 11:20 a.m. local time on Sunday, after a massive landslide in Maoxian County in southwest China's Sichuan Province Saturday morning. 

Rescuers have also found "signs of life," possibly from two people under the rubble, with the use of infrared and radar devices, according to the rescue headquarters. Authorities are working to reach the people. 

Rescue workers open up 'life channel' 

Nine commandos working overnight have dug out a "life channel" to assist the ongoing rescue operation.

The newly opened rescue path is eight meters wide and 800 meters long.

The on-site rescue operation is being conducted with the help of dozens of rescue vehicles, 14 sniffer dogs and other instruments include excavators and 34 sets of life-detection equipment.
