Back in Europe, the Portuguese Primeria Liga match between Esoril and visiting Porto had to be abandoned last night following stadium safety concerns for away fans. During the game, cracks began to appear on the terraces at the Esadio Antonio Coimbra de Mota, forcing authorities to end proceedings early.
In fear of the stand collapsing, supporters were evacuated onto the pitch not long into the second half. During the interval some of the travelling faithful noticed damage to the stadium walls in the toilets and after alerting police an inspection found other problems with the section, including a large crack at the back of the stand, causing the game's postponement. The homeside were leading 1-nil at the time thanks to a header from Brazilian Eduardo 17 minutes into the match. A rescheduled date has not yet been confirmed.
