China opposes the launch of four ballistic missiles by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), an act which was in violation of UN Security Council resolutions, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.
The DPRK fired four ballistic missiles into the sea off Japan's northwest early on Monday.
The United Nations Security Council bans the DPRK from testing any ballistic missile technology.
Spokesperson Geng Shuang also noted the military drills carried out by the US and South Korea, and said China calls for all the relevant parties to be restrained and not engage in proactive moves which heighten regional tension.
