We begin tonight with the latest development on the Korean Peninsula. China and South Korea, both members of the six-party talks, held a meeting to discuss plans to further ease tensions in the region.
This came after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea said yes to talks with South Korea. The first high-level, face-to-face contact between Pyongyang and Seoul in over two years, will be held next week. South Korea has also proposed sending a five-member delegation to the meeting. Progress has been made, yet key issues such as nuclear weapons and missile programmes remain to be solved.
