Moving to Japan, where financial regulators have ordered stronger security after hackers allegedly stole 530 million dollars worth of NEM coins from the Coincheck cryptocurrency exchange.
The Financial Services Agency said Monday that the Tokyo-based exchange must take new measures to improve its operations and submit a report on the theft in two weeks. Coincheck said it would strengthen its customer protection and develop a new risk management system. Hackers reportedly stole 530 million U.S. dollars worth of NEM coins from Coincheck on Friday in one of the biggest cyber thefts on record.
