The Information Office of the State Council held a press conference on February 17, in which the Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei said that China continues to be the world's biggest country in the fields of manufacturing and Internet technology.
In manufacturing, the output of more than 220 industrial products ranked No.1 in the world among over 500 kinds of industrial products. 56 Chinese manufacturing companies were on the list of the world's top 500 enterprises in 2015.
When it comes to online technology, China has established the world's largest 4G network, and the total number of Internet users has increased to 731 million. Four Chinese companies have entered the top 10 Internet firms globally, in terms of market value.
As Miao Wei stated, significant achievements have been made when it comes to the Internet and manufacturing in China, with both sectors operating smoothly. Altogether, Miao cited four characteristics contributing to the phenomenon.
The first is the enhanced overall scale and comprehensive strength of the two sectors.
The second is increased innovation. For example, China has made breakthroughs in manufacturing high-end equipment, as shown by the successful launch of the Shenzhou spacecraft and Tiangong-2 space laboratory, as well as other examples like the Jiaolong submersible.
The third is the substantial progress made in integrating manufacturing and the Internet. Intelligent manufacturing has been improved significantly, with the use of digital design tools 61.8 percent more popular than before.
The fourth is the improvement of industrial structure. As the transformation of traditional industries has accelerated, emerging and advanced manufacturing industries are growing rapidly.
