A cold front continues to sweep across many regions of China. In some parts of Heilongjiang province in the northeast, the highest temperature is only minus 23 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, a wet tissue can stand up in just 30 seconds. As for the lowest temperature, that dubious honor goes to the northernmost part of Heilongjiang. It's minus 45 degrees Celsius there. We won't even take a tissue out. The eastern province of Shandong welcomed its first snow of the winter Monday morning. The traffic jam it caused was less welcome, as people had to get out of their vehicles and walk. Strong wind and snow also disrupted sailing conditions. All ships entering and leaving the province's Longkou port have either been postponed or canceled. More than 300 fishing boats were forced to return to port.
