Carrie Lam accepts official appointment as HK's chief executive

‍Hong Kong’s Chief Executive-elect Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor accepted the official appointment by Premier Li Keqiang as Hong Kong’s 5th Chief Executive on Tuesday in Beijing.
Lam is scheduled to meet President Xi at around 3:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday afternoon, and she will meet the press afterwards.
Carrie Lam met with Wang Guangya, director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council on Monday morning to discuss the preparation work for the next Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
She also met Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) at the Great Hall of the People on Monday afternoon, accompanied by Ding Yeyan, Chief Secretary of the Office of the Chief Executive-elect.
Lam won the HKSAR chief executive election on March 26 with the support of 777 of the 1,194 members of the Hong Kong Election Committee.‍
China's State Council appointed Lam as the new chief executive of the HKSAR on March 31. She will take office on July 1.
