Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a state visit to China and to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which will be held in the Chinese capital on May 14 and 15.
29 heads of state and government will attend the Forum, the highest-profile international meeting on the Belt and Road since Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Initiative in 2013.
This is Mirziyoyev's first official visit to China since he took office last December. He will have his first official meeting with President Xi Jinping in the next few days.
Trade between China and Uzbekistan was worth more than four billion US dollars last year. The two sides are expected to sign deals worth 20 billion US dollars during Mirziyoyev's visit.
