The remaining mobile launchers of the US THAAD anti-missile system will be deployed to a military site in South Korea early on Thursday. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has expressed its strong objection to the deployment.

 

GENG SHUANG, CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESMAN "The deployment of the THAAD system cannot solve the relevant countries' concerns, and will only succeed in severely damaging the regional strategic balance, and hurting the strategic security benefits of countries in the region, including China. It will also escalate tensions and further complicate the situation on the Korean Peninsula. China strongly urges the US and South Korea to consider the security benefits and concerns of relevant countries including China, and stop the deployment process and withdraw the facilities."
