[]
Delegates from governments, business, NGOs and academia discussed how to achieve strong and inclusive regional economic growth at the World Economic Forum for ASEAN in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, with talks focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Jin Liqun, the president of the China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, stressed that the AIIB is working closely with other development banks and institutions to meet the region’s huge infrastructure needs.
Many participants at the forum noted that improving key physical infrastructure, including roads, rail, ports, power and water is essential for the ASEAN region to reduce poverty, expand its middle class and fulfill its potential, and the Belt and Road Initiative and AIIB can play a major role in achieving those goals.
