Six Russian women's hockey players will not be going to Pyeongchang after the IOC handed them lifetime bans. All six players are done at the Olympics over doping allegations linked to the 2014 Sochi Games.
The banned players are Inna Dyubanok, Ekaterina Lebedeva, Yekaterina Pashkevich, Anna Shibanova, Yekaterina Smolentseva, and Galina Skiba. Russia finished sixth in Sochi and this latest decision from the IOC means more than 30 Russians have now been banned for life over alleged doping violations at the Olympics they hosted three years ago. The IOC did not disclose the nature of the hockey players' violations and said it had closed a case against a seventh unnamed athlete without sanction.
