The Chinese Ambassador to France Zhai Juan has expressed his hope that the investigation into the death of a Chinese national will be fair.
56-year-old Liu Shaoyao was killed in his home in Paris earlier this week by law enforcers.
Zhai met with Paris Police Prefect Michel Cadot on Saturday to discuss the case. Cadot extended his condolences to Liu's family.
The police official promised a just and transparent investigation, adding that his men would try their best to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals in France.
The three police officers involved in Liu's death have been suspended pending further investigation.
