Staying with Apple, the US tech giant said Wednesday that it would pay about 38 billion US dollars in taxes on profits repatriated from overseas as it significantly boosts investments in the U.S.
The iPhone maker said that it plans to use some of its foreign stockpile of more than 250 billion dollars to invest in a variety of U.S. projects, including building a new campus and creating about 20,000 jobs. A source confirmed that Apple also is sharing some of its wealth with employees worldwide through bonuses of 25 hundred dollars worth of stock. Apple claims to be the largest US taxpayer and it is also one of the biggest beneficiaries of a new tax bill that lowers the rate of repatriated profits to around 15 percent. The measure also cuts the corporate tax rate to 21 percent from 35 percent. U.S. President Donald Trump called Apple's moves a huge win for American workers and the country.
