German Coalition Talks: Merkel enters final stretch in coalition-building marathon
[]
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives and the center-left Social Democrats have begun what they hope is their last round of talks on forming a new German government. Negotiations could take two more days. Party leaders say major issues remain unresolved. The effort to put together a governing coalition has already taken more than four months, and won't finish with these talks. Any deal will need to be approved by a ballot of the Social Democrats' members.
