A major Kazakh newspaper has published an op-ed by Chinese President Xi Jinping ahead of his state visit to the central Asian country.

In the article in Kazpravda, headlined "May the China-Kazakhstan relationship fly high toward our shared aspirations," Xi wrote that the two countries are not only good neighbors but also strategic partners.

He said that relations between the two countries are stronger than ever and that China would continue to respect Kazakhstan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and choice of development path.

He also urged both sides to cooperate more, including in building Belt and Road infrastructure. They can also work together in industrial capacity sharing, technology and innovation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and security as well as on international and multilateral levels, Xi said.

During his visit from June 7 to 10, President Xi will attend the 17th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the opening ceremony of the Astana Expo 2017.
