After over 200 days of renovation works, the Chaka Salt Lake, also known as the “mirror of the sky” in northwest China's Qinghai Province reopened to the public on Sunday. /VCG Photo
"Chaka" means "salt lake" in Tibetan. Silhouetted by the azure sky and floating clouds as well as mountains in the distance, the dream-like landscapes seem to be where the sky ends and the ground begins. /VCG Photo
This was the second time the scenic spot shut its door to tourists, so authorities could improve infrastructure and provide better quality services to the public. The lake was originally shut down in October 2015 for a year, in a bid to tackle pollution and prevent the effects of mass tourism. /VCG Photo
To cope with the booming number of tourists, Qinghai's tourism authority released revised regulations on the industry in 2016, which emphasized that the development of tourism should meet ecological requirements. /VCG Photo
