Actress and UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie has visited the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan with two of her children, 13-year-old Zahara Jolie-Pitt and 10-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.
Jolie also visited the UNHCR-funded "Tiger Girls" program. It aims to empower young refugee girls through a range of academic and social skills courses. The program is supported by 11 Syrian female coaches who volunteer to teach the 12 to 17-year-old girls mathematics, Arabic, English and social skills.
Zaatari camp was once an empty desert. It's been transformed into a bustling slum city, with a population of around 85-thousand people.
