Renowned Chinese traditional paintings, calligraphy works, antiques and ceramics are now on display ahead of a special auction in Beijing next week. Some items are expected to fetch more than one-hundred million yuan a piece at the event.
A stunning collection of rare Chinese artworks were revealed at a preview session at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center. These items will be auctioned off on Saturday in the nation's capital.
The biggest draw at this year's Autumn auction, are traditional paintings and calligraphy works, as well as antique pieces, porcelain items, and ink paintings. Organizers say some items are expected to sell for more than a whopping one hundred million yuan.
ZHAO XU, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POLY INTERNATIONAL AUCTION CO., LTD. "This year's Poly auction will be its biggest in 12 years. A good amount of items will be on sale in the next few days, covering various kinds of Chinese artwork. Eight of them have an estimated price of over one hundred-million yuan each."
Among the most prized items is an album of paintings by the renowned Chinese artist Qi Baishi, a Chinese painting master who specialized in flowers, plants and landscapes. Entitled "Twelve Screens of Landscape", the album is regarded as the artist's greatest achievement.

The paintings are not only the most important artworks of the master, but also one of the most extraordinary items at this year's auction. Many other Chinese artworks are also appealing, and have essential places in Chinese art circles."
Some other items are also expected to fetch a record prize, including "Turkeys", a painting by 16th-century Italian painter Giuseppe Castiglion, who served as a court painter in China's Qing Dynasty. The 2017 Poly Autumn Auction will kick off this weekend in Beijing.
The auction house remains in first place among domestic large-scale art vendors, and boasts the top transaction volume of any in China.
