Hundreds of people took to the streets of Paris on Monday, in protest at President-elect Emmanuel Macron's planned labor reforms.
The 39-year-old centrist has promised to transcend the traditional right-left political divide, and to implement policies for fundamental economic reforms. But demonstrators called the policies “ultra-liberal."
Macron has been a regular target of left-wing protests.
During a two-year stint as economy minister, he pushed through reforms deregulating working on Sunday, introducing a more competitive environment into the legal profession, and making alterations to the industry and service of long-haul bus routes.
The so-called "Macron laws" sparked nationwide protests.
