Chinese central government appoints new commissioner to HK

The Chinese central government has appointed Xie Feng as commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, replacing Song Zhe, according to a decision announced on Saturday.
Before his new post, Xie was China’s Ambassador to Indonesia since June 2014.
During his diplomatic career, he served in a number of positions. In 2008, he took the position of Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in the US and became Director-General of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010. 
Song was appointed commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong SAR in April 2012, and was named Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office in December 2016.
