5 killed in Indonesia ferry fire

At least five people died after a ferry caught fire off Indonesia's East Java Province on Friday evening, reported Xinhua news agency citing local rescuers.

The ferry was on route from Java to Balikpapan when the blaze broke out on its deck. There were 134 passengers, 37 crew members and some vehicles on board, according to CCTV reporter Zou Yunyun.

91 people have been rescued so far and transferred to a nearby island. 

Rescue and search operations are ongoing.
