London's Heathrow International Airport terminal 3 suspended some flights on Friday over a "security issue", Reuters reported citing an airport spokesman.
"Departures were suspended for a short time from Terminal 3 due to a security issue. We are very sorry to any passengers whose journeys are affected," the airport spokeswoman said without elaborating.
On Twitter, the Metropolitan Police said “we are working with Heathrow Terminal 3 after a report of a suspicious item detected by an x-ray of luggage.”
A 30-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport from Istanbul on suspicion of a terror-related offence and terrorist training on Thursday evening.
Heathrow is one of the world's busiest airports and the affected terminal mainly services long-haul flights, although it also offers some European destinations.
