Solid cooperation in politics, economics and culture for BRICS

The first cooperation meeting of BRICS 2017 was held on Thursday and Friday, in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi delivered a speech on the opening ceremony of the meeting, and China’s coordinator and vice Foreign Minister, Li Baodong, hosted the meeting. Coordinators and assistant coordinators from all sides, ambassadors, and delegates from the China Development Bank participated in the meeting.
The representatives discussed the four key priority areas in depth, which include identifying cooperation fields among BRICS 2017, deepening cooperation on political-security, economics and cultural communication, under the theme of “deepening the BRICS partnership and opening up a brighter future”.
Delegates from member countries appreciate China’s work as the BRICS presidency, and all sides reached a consensus on the theme & agenda of the ninth Annual BRICS Summit and the arrangement in BRICS 2017.

BRICS members believe that all sides should strengthen solidarity and cooperation on international and regional issues, and play a constructive role in safeguarding global peace and security, by fully utilizing both BRICS Security Advisor meeting and meeting of BRICS Foreign Ministers.
All sides agreed to deepen BRICS cooperation and strengthen macroeconomic cooperation, grow an open global economy, improve economic governance, deepen the pragmatic cooperation in fields of trade, investment, finance, and etc, under the frameworks of G20.
Besides, BRICS countries mutual agreed to co-organize cultures festivals, film festivals, sports games, high level meeting on traditional medicinal knowledge and other activities to deepen the cultural communication and cooperation.
BRICS countries expressed their supports to China to host Xiamen Summit on September 3-5, and believed the Summit would make rich achievements and open up a brighter future for all BRICS member countries.
