National Hockey League: St. Louis 2 - Vegas 1
[]
Over to the NHL, where the surprising Vegas Golden Knights would travel to face the St. Louis Blues. The expansion side from Sin City, have been the talk of the first half of the season, leading the Western Conference and were riding an 8-game winning streak. Hot on their heels for the top spot, is the St. Louis Blues, and a win by Paul Stastny and the Blue Notes would see them close the gap in the standings.
The host Blues are able to get on the board first, as Alex Steen comes in from the face-off dot and wires one past Marc-Andre Fleury.
And St. Loo almost grab a two-goal advantage as Vladimir Sobotka gets past the defenseman but can't beat Fleury. Nice job from the flower to cut off the angle.
The Knights stay close and are able to tie things midway through the first as Erik Haula rips one past the keeper. 1-1 game.
It stays that way till the third as the hosts start swarming the net -- and Paul Stastny is able to find the loose puck and jam it home. 2-1 game. The black disk just sitting by the goal-line and the Blues forward tucks it home.
That is the winner as St. Loo ends Vegas's 8-game winstreak. Also in the NHL the game between Florida and Boston was postponed because of that massive snowstorm in the US. Carolina blanked Pittsburgh. Philly outscores the Islanders 6-4. San Jose, Arizona and Montreal were all winners -- and all needed an overtime or a shootout to do so.
