‍A South Korean cargo ship with 24 people onboard has gone missing in the South Atlantic.
A life raft carrying two Filipino sailors believed to be from the ship, Stella Daisy, has been found during the search operation, reported AFP, citing a Uruguayan navy spokesman.
According to Yonhap News Agency, one of the sailors made a distress call at around 11:20 p.m. local time (02:20 GMT) on Friday when the Marshall Islands-flagged ship was sailing near Uruguay.
South Korea requested assistance in the search from Brazil and Uruguay, said Yonhap, adding that the life raft was found by commercial ships aiding the search in the area.
Another life raft and two powered life boats were also spotted, while nobody was on board, reported Yonhap, citing authorities.
The Stella Daisy had eight South Korean sailors and 16 Filipinos on board.
The search and rescue operation is continuing for the other 22 people, a South Korean foreign ministry official told Reuters.
