Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of Germany Sigmar Gabriel on Wednesday in Beijing. Both sides exchanged ideas on a breadth of issues, including trade, economic cooperation and global security.

Gabriel is in Beijing for the High-Level People-to-People Dialogue between China and Germany. 

Wang said at a press conference after the meeting that the two sides had reached a wide-ranging consensus on co-operational development, and more talks are expected in the coming two days.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and Germany, and both countries have expressed willingness to advance bilateral relations to a new high.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is scheduled to visit Germany next week, and Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend the G20 summit in Germany later this year. 

The high-level exchanges between the two countries are expected to promote dialogue, as well as deepen cooperation.
