The DPRK will send a delegation to the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation which will be held in Beijing on May 14 and 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday.
At a regular press briefing, Geng was asked whether China had invited the DPRK to take part in the One Belt and One Road Initiative. He said Pyongyang would send a senior level official delegation to the forum.
Geng noted that the Belt and Road Initiative is an open initiative and any country that cherishes the same ideals and follows the same path can take part in it and connect its own development plan with other countries.
He added that the initiative was raised amid a weak global economic recovery and aims to strengthen international cooperation, integrate resources and tackle challenges, to help Europe and Asian countries, especially developing countries, to develop.
Challenges are inevitable but China will not stop pushing it forward, he said.
