Germany's political uncertainty is at odds with its flourishing economy. According to figures released on Thursday, the rate of the German economy's growth reached a six-year high in 2017. The preliminary estimate by the Federal Statistics Office shows the economy grew by a slower-than-expected 2-point-2 percent in 2017. Including calendar adjustments, GDP growth was higher at 2-point-5 percent due to three fewer working days in 2017 compared to 2016. The German economy has now grown for the eighth consecutive year. Europe's largest economy is benefiting from rising private consumption, and a resurgence of exports due to better global economic conditions.
