At the start of every new year, it's common to set new plans and goals. We spoke to Chinese people from all walks of life across the country to find out what their resolutions and hopes are for 2018.
LILY ZHANG EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT "In my career, I wish I could get more promoted and enhance my salary. In my personal life I will I could lose weight and I will go to the gym everyday to work out."
LI TONG PR SPECIALIST "I want to be financially independent from my parents. My second resolution is to travel to three foreign countries I have never been before. But I think these two can already go against with each other."
QIAO YONGGANG TOUR GUIDE "For next year, a big challenge for me is that, for my boy it's the first year of his school life. I would like to guide him into a comfortable school life with a very good start."
OLIVIA YANG FILM PRODUCER "A why-not-give-it-a-try" resolution next year would be giving myself a totally new look. I have this hairstyle for quite sometime so maybe it's time."
LI XIAOFAN STUDENT "In 2018 I plan to study abroad as an exchange student of business school. When exposed to a different culture, I can get more assorted knowledge, and improve my view on some international issues."

YAN SHUMEI, RESTAURANT OWNER CHAGAN LAKE RESORT "I wish my mum good health and happiness, for my grandson to enroll in a decent kindergarten, and for customers to come to my restaurant in the coming year."
YANG WEI RURAL RESIDENT "We want to buy a car next year and earn more money for our kids."
HUANG WENTAO STUDENT "My wish is to have a puppy I can play with. And also for my family to live happily in the new year."
