The United States Special Representative for DPRK Policy Joseph Yun will travel to Tokyo on April 25 to meet with officials from Japan and the Republic of Korea to discuss brewing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
According to a statement by the US State Department, Yun will meet Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Kenji Kanasugi and the ROK Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Hong-kyun.
The last meeting of this kind was held on February 27 in the US capital Washington.
The three allies are expected to coordinate on a potential response to the DPRK’s threats amid growing concerns over Pyongyang’s recent missile launches and a possible sixth nuclear test.
On Thursday, the UN formally condemned the DPRK’s latest missile launch, demanding that it immediately cease further actions in violation of the UN’s relevant resolutions.
