An annual massive military parade with troops from all units of the Iranian Army was held in Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Tuesday morning to celebrate its National Army Day.
The ceremony was held near the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. President Hassan Rouhani attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, saying that the Iranian armed forces have made considerable progress in the acquisition of the defensive technology over the past years, according to Xinhua.

Other attendees were high-ranking officials and senior military commanders.
The ground, navy and air forces of the Iranian Army successively passed in review. Hardware including missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, rifles and air defense missile systems was then displayed during the parade.
The S-300 missile shield which was delivered by Russia to Iran and unveiled last year was displayed again in this year’s event. With strong air-defense capability, the S-300 missile shield is believed to extend Iran’s air-defense scope to 300 kilometers in length and 27,000 meters in height. It will also be a major obstacle Israeli warplanes will face when striking Iran’s nuclear facilities, according to military experts.
“Iran will increase its deterrent power in a bid to secure its territory,” said President Rouhani, emphasizing that Iran's neighbors should be assured that the defensive power of Iran was not a threat to them, but is just for defense.
