Rohingya Crisis: US condemns 'ethnic cleansing' of Rohingya in Myanmar

The United States on Wednesday labeled the Myanmar military operation against the Rohingya population as "ethnic cleansing", and said it would consider targeted sanctions against those responsible.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement, "After a careful and thorough analysis of available facts, it is clear that the situation in northern Rakhine state constitutes ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya." His comments, which come after his visit to Myanmar last week, are the strongest condemnation by the US over Myanmar military's crackdown against the Rohingya.
