China has called on the US to adjust its outdated policy of export restrictions to China. Commenting on the trade surplus between China and the US at a press conference on April 19, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said China would like to work together with the US to maintain a healthy and stable development of bilateral economic ties.
"China has never deliberately pursued a trade surplus. We would like to expand imports from the US, according to our domestic market demand. We hope the US will adjust its outdated policy of export restrictions towards China and pave the way for more balanced trade," said Lu when commenting on a recent analysis from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
