The US has sent a special representative, Joseph Yun, to the Korean Peninsula for talks on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The meeting follows US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s recent visit to the region.
Yun, who serves as the US Special Representative for the DPRK Policy, held talks with the ROK’s official to six-party talks, Kim Hong-kyun, in Seoul.

Diplomats are working around the clock as tensions loom over the Korean Peninsula.
All eyes are on the meetings for any hints at how the Trump administration will formulate its policy in dealing with Pyongyang.
The meeting comes amid reports of an unsuccessful missile launch by the DPRK on Wednesday.
Officials said the missile exploded within seconds of the launch and more analysis is being conducted to determine the type of projectile.
Meanwhile, Reuters citing an unnamed US official, said the Trump administration is considering slapping broader sanctions on the DPRK.
The US and ROK representatives are meeting for the second time in as many months. But if anything, the message is clear, the allies are in close coordination and remain committed to finding a solution to the DPRK nuclear issue.
