Most people take their dogs and other pets to the park and other public outdoor areas to play and relax. But one man in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province is turning heads with his furry friend. Hank, the pet owner, has quite the unique pet - a squirrel named Chaochao.
Feeding and even petting such a wild animal isn't easy, but Hank has some experience in raising pet squirrels. Unfortunately, that first experience didn't go so well, as his first squirrel died of sunstroke. This time however, Hank is taking extra care of his new pet Chaochao, putting his heart and mind into raising the little guy. And Chaochao has grown up in great condition thanks to Hank.
According to Hank, more people are tending low-cost pets like squirrels. Feeding a squirrel with nuts costs owners roughly 100 yuan (15 US dollars) a month. Hank has also joined a local squirrel-lover club that already has over 200 members.
